Stock Market Concepts
Stock market investing for beginners is a slippery slope.
There is a learning curve you need to work your way through
to find profit. The good news is that the web has made it
easier for you to get a jump-start on the learning process.
Taking a few courses can definitely help you to excel in the
world of stock market investing.
Choosing Stocks
One of the first
things to learn in stock market investing for beginners is
how to select stocks. If you are new to investing, you may
not want to put a lot of your money into one stock. Therefore,
you may want to look at Mutual Funds or perhaps Exchange Traded
Fund. These funds will hold publicly listed companies as the
investment. The benefit is that you lower your risk by purchasing
units or shares in a number of companies, giving you a much
broader range. It also helps you save time by not requiring
that you research all of the companies you are investing in.
It gives you some good exposure to how stock market investing
works.
Once you do decide
to start investing in individual companies, the first step
is to determine what your investment strategy is. Here are
some questions to ask yourself before you get started.
- How will you
research companies to select the right stocks to buy?
- How long will
you hold onto the stock before you allow yourself to move
on?
- How many different
stocks do you want to invest in?
- What will cause
you to sell, for example, what price will trigger you to
sell at?
- Ultimately,
are you investing short or long term in the market?
Once you get an
idea of what your goals are through these questions, every
decision you make in terms of which company to invest in or
how many stocks you will invest in, is a simpler decision
to make. In fact, those that are triggered by the movement
of the market on a daily basis are those people with less
experience and often times undetermined strategies. Even in
a panic, you will know what the right decisions to make are.
